Sawmill Road in Flagstaff is preparing for a short hiatus as pavement repair works are set to close a stretch of the thoroughfare over two nights. According to Flagstaff officials, the section from the Police Department public parking lot driveway to Kensington Dr. will be closed to traffic from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. starting Tuesday through the morning of Thursday. This move comes as a response to increased vehicular activity born by the detour route for the Lone Tree Overpass, a critical link that has been sidestepped, funneling more cars onto Sawmill Road.
The City of Flagstaff's announcement alerts motorists to the fact that they will need to navigate an alternative course threading through Seville Ln, Barrow Ave, Cambridge Ln, and back onto Kensington Dr. With Barrow Ave playing a dual role, a part of this residential street transforms into a staging area beginning Monday all through the duration of the maintenance operation until the stages break down on Thursday.
Local residents and commuters are advised to plan and allow for additional travel time during these two nights.
