The Town of Fountain Hills is offering a chance for community members to step into a role typically reserved for clergy or community leaders. Those interested in presenting an invocation at Town Council Regular Meetings from September through December 2025 are now invited to apply. The window for applications is open, with a deadline set for June 30, 2025.
According to an official announcement on the town's website, a lottery system will be used to select the speakers. The random drawing is scheduled for July 21, 2025, ensuring a fair chance for all applicants. The submission process requires applicants to provide basic contact information and, if applicable, an affiliation with a local church or organization. A brief statement highlighting the applicant’s connection to the Fountain Hills community is also a part of the application.
This initiative follows a trend in diversifying the voices leading communal moments of reflection. By moving towards an inclusive process that embraces residents regardless of their religious or organizational ties, Fountain Hills continues to expand its commitment to represent the diversity of experiences within its borders.
Selected participants will be notified following the drawing and will have the opportunity to address town leaders and citizens at the beginning of the council meetings.
