A fatal shooting in Pineview, Georgia, over the weekend has led to a double homicide investigation. Among the victims were 36-year-old Nathadius Kenta Lawson and 40-year-old Charleston Calix, both residents of Pineview. The incident has prompted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to step in at the request of the local sheriff's office.
According to a press release from the GBI, the shooting happened around midnight yesterday, when several people were gathered at a home on Depot Street. Lawson and Calix both succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The investigation is still in its early stages, and law enforcement officers are piecing together the events of that tragic night.
As the GBI forges ahead with their work, they have encouraged anyone who might hold information relevant to the case to come forward. Tips can be offered anonymously through a variety of channels, including a dedicated hotline at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), the GBI's website, or their "See Something, Send Something" mobile app. Public assistance could prove crucial as investigators seek to understand the motives behind the shooting and identify those responsible.
Once the investigation has been concluded, the findings will be turned over to the Cordele Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office to determine the appropriate course for prosecution. For now, the GBI's inquiry continues.
