The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has taken on the task of looking into an officer-involved shooting in Bartow County, following a request from the local Sheriff's Office. The incident, which led to the death of 50-year-old Cartersville resident Carrie Hall, took place on the evening of Wednesday. According to a GBI report, Hall arrived at a Bartow County residence and discharged a firearm, prompting a call to law enforcement.n 9
The GBI's initial findings reveal that after responding to the disturbance, deputies, helped by an officer from the Cartersville Police Department, intercepted Hall's vehicle at the junction of SR 20/Canton Hwy & Conference Center Dr in Cartersville where a felony traffic stop ensued, during the stop Hall, armed and unyielding, stepped out from her car amidst the clamor of officers commanding her to relinquish her weapon, ultimately, the officers opened fire when she did not comply.
Hall sustained gunshot wounds in the confrontation and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital—her end pronounced upon arrival. The GBI's ongoing investigation will pass through meticulous review before reaching the Bartow County District Attorney's Office, ensuring that the due process Hall, the officers involved, and the public interest are served with discernment.
