Georgia State Sen. Greg Dolezal has made waves as one of the most effective legislators in the state, earning accolades for his performance during the 2023-2024 Legislative Biennium. An assessment by the Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA) gave Dolezal an effectiveness score of 2.09, which notably exceeds the average legislator score of 1.0, signaling his prowess in moving bills from proposal to law, as per the Georgia State Senate Press Office.
In an era where political achievements are often scrutinized, Dolezal has managed to stay above the fray, his score reflecting a capacity to advance his agenda through the legislative labyrinth that can entangle so many; he has attributed his success to collaboration and a focus on the priorities of Georgia families, the Georgia Promise Scholarship Act, a highlight among several bills he has steered to pass.
"I'm honored to be recognized as one of the most effective legislators in the Georgia Senate during the 2023-2024 Biennium," Senator Dolezal said in a statement obtained by the State Senate press release. He underscored the significance of Senate Bill 233, the Georgia Promise Scholarship Act, emphasizing its role in broadening educational opportunities for children, regardless of their residential ZIP code. As he looks toward the future, Dolezal's eyes are set on the 2025-2026 Biennium with the intention of replicating his performance, sustaining the momentum he has built up, the legislations such as SB 1, SB 26, SB 204, SB 353, and SB 430.
The methods employed by the CLA in evaluating lawmakers are rooted in hard data: tracking the number of bills sponsored by each, how they maneuver those bills through the varying chambers of the General Assembly, and the final count of those that become ratified as state law.
