Residents of Gilmer County and the local sheriff's office found themselves in an unusual situation this past weekend, as a group of adventurous goats took to the streets, prompting a community-wide herding effort. Atlanta News First reported that the sheriffs requested aid via a Facebook post early yesterday to locate the wandering "goat gang," which had taken a joy walk along Chatsworth Highway.
The escapade began around 9:06 a.m. when the goats were spotted casually occupying someone's yard, and by afternoon, the goats had managed a 14-mile trek from their home.
Citizens responded to the call for help and the sheriff's office, which joked, "Yes, we now offer goat return services (kidding... sort of),"as per the Atlanta News First.
By 2:24 p.m., all goats were safely returned to their owner after a short escape in Gilmer County. The sheriff's office credited the community for helping locate them and added a humorous note, saying, "How they pulled off that level of hoof-powered Houdini magic? We have no idea," as quoted by FOX 5 Atlanta.
