Goodyear, a burgeoning city in the West Valley, is bringing a slew of new eateries and shops to its GSQ development, aiming to transform the area into a dynamic downtown hub. Since its launch in August 2022, GSQ, located at McDowell Road and 150th Drive, has already become home to a variety of businesses, from casual dining spots to upscale restaurants.

According to a recent report by Phoenix New Times, Dave's Hot Chicken—originally a modest parking lot stand in LA—has now spread its fiery wings to Goodyear, with a new location that opened on May 16. Additionally, High Tide Seafood Bar & Grill joined the culinary lineup on May 19, bringing with it a specialty in steam kettle cooking and fresh seafood.

The arrival of a long-anticipated Trader Joe’s has also sparked excitement among residents, as Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo claimed, “This really is a dream come true for so many of our residents who’ve been asking for this unique grocer for many, many years,” as reported by Phoenix New Times. Further cementing GSQ's status as a new retail and leisure destination, the Texas-based mega gas station and convenience store chain Buc-ee’s breaks ground this month.

On the coffee front, Black Rock Coffee Bar announced plans to open a Goodyear location in 2026, serving their various coffee concoctions. Similarly, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is set to debut its wood-fired steaks and seafood in a standalone building, complete with a cozy patio suitable for cooler valley months.

The evolution of GSQ doesn't stop there. The city's official website, Goodyear Civic Square at GSQ, touts the area's aesthetics and array of entertainment, dining, and shopping choices. Besides the recently added BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse and The Stillery, more establishments like Shake Shack and Over Easy have already established their presence, while anticipated openings like Banner Health and AC Hotels by Marriott are also making waves.

Originally a parcel of scallion fields, GSQ now signifies Goodyear's transformation, spearheaded by Globe Corp. The development stretches from I-10 to Encanto Boulevard and relishes in the moniker of the city's first-ever downtown - a testament to the vision Goodyear's leaders and residents have held since 1984. With its refined public art, inviting public spaces, and diverse offerings, GSQ is shaping up to be not just a local favorite, but a distinctive draw for the West Valley.
