Pet lovers and families alike can look forward to a fun-filled, animal-friendly event at John Prince Park next Saturday. The Palm Beach County Office of Community Revitalization is hosting the Heart & Paws Celebration – an event aimed at rescuing pets and strengthening families. According to an announcement on the Palm Beach County government's website, the gathering takes place on May 17, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Eric Call Pavilion.
The day's agenda underscores activities centered around pet adoption and overall health and wellness. The event will feature a pet adoption event where adoption fees will be waived, and new pet owners can start off on the right paw with free vaccinations and pet food, courtesy of Animal Care & Control. Family Impact Palm Beach County will spearhead a health and wellness fair, offering a plethora of resources and services designed to bolster the well-being of families present.
In addition to the focus on health and companionship, there's a Hero Appreciation Zone that permits attendees to mingle with local heroes from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Fire Rescue, and Parks & Recreation. The event also teems with interactive experiences such as a Spring Scurry Walk, paw painting, kite making, doggy yoga, and the Kindness Garden Project, where individuals can paint rocks with messages of inspiration. For the young and the restless, there is "Books & Barks," a reading nook with free books and the calming presence of therapy dogs, compliments of the Tweety Foundation, as detailed by the Palm Beach County.
Dog owners eager to improve their pet's manners may appreciate that the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen evaluation will take place on-site.
