In a coordinated effort to tackle drug distribution in Holyoke, police arrested 48-year-old Jose Robledo-Diaz on multiple charges, including heroin and cocaine distribution. The arrests were part of a larger joint operation involving the Holyoke Police Narcotics Vice Unit and the Massachusetts State Police, with additional support from federal agencies.
According to a statement from the Holyoke Police Department, Robledo-Diaz was apprehended while riding away on a bicycle after officers observed several narcotics transactions; the operations took place near 7 Cabot Street and adjacent railroad property, Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan along with Lt. Michael McMahon of the Holyoke Narcotics Vice Unit coordinated this local and federal law enforcement effort, which focused on street level drug trafficking and its consequent blight on the community fabric.
Robledo-Diaz, a Chicopee resident, faces charges for distribution of a Class A drug, specifically heroin, and distribution of a Class B drug, cocaine, tallying five counts of the latter offense, the execution of his arrest the result of surveillance and collaboration among multiple law enforcement entities—police and federal agents alike that paints a picture of the larger, concerted effort to clamp down on area drug activities.
