The Houston Police Department is gearing up to honor its officers during the upcoming Police Week, slated to run from May 5 through May 9. This week-long observance is set to celebrate the service and sacrifices of police officers to the Houston community, and to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives while on duty.

The line-up for 2025 includes the Police Week Awards Ceremony Luncheon on May 6, taking place at noon at the Hilcorp Energy Company Headquarters, located at 1111 Travis Street. According to the City of Houston, the invite-only ceremony will feature "the reading of the Mayor's Proclamation and award presentations to HPD employees." The Day of Prayer Ceremony, scheduled for May 7 at the Edward A. Thomas Building, is another event focused on community engagement, bringing together local clergy and residents. The public is invited to attend and participate in this demonstration of unity between the HPD and the community.

The Annual Police Week Memorial Service is scheduled for May 9 at 7 p.m. at the Houston Police Officers Memorial site. This event will feature a procession along Memorial Drive, a candlelight vigil, and several traditional honors, including a wreath laying, a 21-gun salute, the playing of TAPS, and a helicopter flyover by the HPD.

As part of ongoing remembrance activities, the HPD Honor Guard will participate in the National Police Week Ceremony in Washington, D.C., from May 12-16. Houston PD encourages both officers and citizens to join in these commemorations, such as by driving with their headlights on to honor the fallen officers.
