An illegally parked vehicle in Highlands Ranch became the scene of a major law enforcement discovery on May 1. According to KDVR, Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies stumbled upon an array of illicit items, including a gun, drugs, and stolen identification documents, after spotting the parked car at 1265 Sgt. Jon Stiles Boulevard at around 7:15 a.m.
Upon approaching the car that was illegally parked across two spaces, the deputies found two men, identified as Laroy Alston and Nicholas Fenton, who at first appeared to be passed out. Running from the scene, Fenton was briefly chased by deputies before being detained, as reported by KKTV. In the midst of all this, the vehicle in question was confirmed to be stolen from another jurisdiction.
Alston, the driver from Denver, was found to be under the influence, and according to deputies, seemed "confused, and unsteady," as detailed by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The deputies then searched the vehicle and uncovered an assortment of contraband detailed in their findings.
The search yielded a defaced Glock 27 Gen 4 handgun, loaded with .45 caliber hollow points, and various forms of drug paraphernalia, including bongs, pipes, and syringes, which were crowded beside multiple bags of methamphetamine. Beneath suspicious items, including tools and electronics, a litany of stolen IDs, credit cards, and social security cards were found by officers, including a New Jersey plate and additional stolen license plates linked to multiple victims, a haul reflecting the interconnected webs of theft and fraudulence that often plague our communities.
