As the excitement builds for the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500, fans have a new destination at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) to gear up for the big event. The speedway has unveiled the Midway Superstore and a trackside Merchandise Flagship Store to enhance the shopping experience for visitors, providing a diverse array of officially branded merchandise.
Opening in time for the Sonsio Grand Prix, the Midway Superstore offers an exclusive selection, as told by Michael Kaltenmark to FOX59, featuring items from well-known brands like Under Armour, Lululemon, and TravisMathew. According to a FOX59 report, fans can expect to see a variety of apparel including a special 50-piece Under Armour collection. Demand for merchandise has been on the rise each year, as indicated by officials from the track.
Alongside this addition, updates at the iconic Pagoda have been implemented. A refurbishment project took place over winter, replacing the outdated scoreboard software with the latest LED screens capable of displaying race details and more to further enrich the spectator experience. "Now to be able to not just turn them on again, but program them and really enhance the guest experience really is befitting of the racing capital of the world," Kaltenmark stated in the FOX59 interview.
IMS President Doug Boles emphasized creating a comprehensive shopping experience at the trackside store, announcing the store opening which aims to provide a range of Indy 500-themed goods ahead of the May 25 race. According to a report by WISH-TV, the range includes men’s, women’s, and kids' attire, along with outerwear and souvenirs. Hoping to be open "basically anytime the gates are open," Boles noted in an interview with WTHR, the store will be an exciting addition for fans.
The new merchandise hubs do not aim to take over but rather complement existing stores, including those at the renovated Hall of Fame Museum, as part of the overall IMS strategy to cater to the growing demand for racing gear. The new Midway Superstore and trackside store, assured by Boles and captured by WISH-TV, will serve as ideal spots for fans looking to show their passion for the high-octane world of IndyCar racing.
