An investigation is underway following the death of a 76-year-old inmate at a correctional facility in Jefferson County, Tennessee. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office disclosed via a social media post that the inmate was found unresponsive during cell checks in the early hours of Sunday.
Correctional officers came across the inmate around 00:17 hours and attempted to resuscitate him, finding him pulseless and not breathing. Despite their efforts to immediately provide CPR, their attempts to revive the inmate were ultimately unsuccessful. Jefferson County EMS then transported the inmate to Jefferson Memorial Hospital ER, where he was declared deceased. Notably, the inmate's identity and the circumstances leading to his unresponsiveness have not been disclosed at this time.
