
The Knox County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of a beloved member of their team, retired K9 Rocco, who passed away last Saturday. The announcement was made by the Knox County Sheriff's Office, where he recounted Rocco's dedicated service.
K9 Rocco began his career in 2013 and was assigned to the Narcotics Division, specifically the Highway Interdiction Team, where he served from 2013 to 2017. His role shifted when his handler, Sergeant Chris Wallace, decided to transition to full-time K9 training. After years of unwavering service, K9 Rocco officially retired in 2022, settling into leisure and spending his well-earned retirement with the Wallace family.
The post remembered Rocco as "one of the best," highlighting his love for community outreach, including school visits and demonstrations for children. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the community felt his lasting impact over his years of service. "His loyalty, courage, and dedication will never be forgotten," stated the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
During his tenure, K9 Rocco not only aided in narcotics detection but also became a symbol of the bond between the sheriff's office and the citizens they serve. Reflecting on Rocco’s contributions, the post emphasized the value that K9 units bring to public safety and community relations.
