The Knoxville Police Department has reported a man was killed in a pedestrian collision on North Broadway at Atlantic Avenue yesterday. The individual has been identified as 44-year-old Michael Young, who was pronounced dead at the scene after an SUV struck him, as per a release by KPD.

According to WVLT, Young attempted to cross N. Broadway outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by the Chevy SUV. The involved vehicle stayed on the scene, and the driver cooperated with the authorities. The incident led to the temporary closure of all lanes on Broadway between Atlantic Avenue and Chickamauga Avenue.

Following the crash, KPD crime scene technicians, as well as personnel from the Medical Examiner's Office and crash reconstruction investigators, were on site to examine the circumstances surrounding Young’s death. A report by WBIR highlighted that no other injuries were reported in relation to the accident.

This fatal incident marks the second pedestrian-related collision in the same location during the month of April. A previous event involved an eight-year-old boy who was struck by a car and sustained serious injuries, as stated by WATE. The KPD continues to actively investigate the crash involving Young to fully understand the dynamics of the accident.
