The Knoxville Police Department is reaching out to civilians who are keen on gaining insight into law enforcement operations. According to a recent announcement, the department has opened applications for the 66th iteration of its Community Police Academy (CPA), set to commence on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
This 10-week program is interactive by nature, involving teachings from both officers and KPD staff, creating a conduit for community engagement and understanding. Participants must fit certain criteria: they must be at least 18 years of age, reside or work within Knoxville, have no active warrants or arrest record—minor traffic violations notwithstanding—and commit to attending a minimum of eight sessions out of the planned ten. The sessions will run weekly on Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and will primarily be hosted at the Knoxville Public Safety Complex, as reported by the KPD.
Those interested in participating in the upcoming CPA session have a deadline till August 3, 2025, to submit their completed applications. The Knoxville Police Department has laid out the application process and further information about the CPA on their official website.
