The Knoxville Police Department persists in its search for crucial information related to the December 2023 slaying of Chris Hill, a 51-year-old plumber whose life came to an abrupt end in what is perceived as a deliberate attack. As reported by the Knoxville Police Department, Hill was fatally shot alongside his work vehicle at around 3:20 p.m. on the 13th of December, with evidence indicating that Hill's murderer was meticulously tailing him before committing the heinous act.
On that fateful Wednesday, a gray Toyota 4Runner, reported as stolen earlier the same day from a residence in West Knoxville, was caught by surveillance cameras prowling the vicinity and lingering near Hill’s work truck. It's understood that this 4Runner was left running and unoccupied when it was taken. Post the tedious labor of his day, Hill ventured towards E. Depot Avenue, unknowingly followed by the stolen 4Runner, the police department's findings suggest.
Hill’s arrival at E. Depot Avenue and his subsequent exit from his truck were met with immediate violence as the suspect swiftly stepped out of the 4Runner, discharged multiple rounds at Hill, and then fled the scene, leaving the stolen vehicle abandoned elsewhere. Despite rigorous investigation efforts, the assailant remains at large, and no person has since been apprehended or charged in connection with the murder.
Police investigators continue to sift through leads and are calling on the public for assistance. They urge anyone who might hold even a fragment of information regarding this crime to get in touch with the East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers. As the department states, "Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers anonymously at 865-215-7165. Tipsters could be eligible to receive a reward of up to $2,000."
The Knoxville community remains rattled by the brutality of such an act within its bounds - the preservation of societal peace is dependent on the resolution of such tragedies. The Police Department's persistent investigation and appeal for public contribution underscore their commitment to serving justice for Chris Hill and securing tranquility once again for the localities he once served.
