West High School teacher and coach, 32-year-old Chad Brooks was arrested on charges of aggravated statutory rape. The arrest followed a grand jury indictment the previous day in Knox County, stemming from allegations that surfaced in April of inappropriate conduct with students, according to the Knoxville Police Department.
The investigation into Brooks started when reports of his alleged misconduct with both past and current students reached the Special Crimes Unit of the Knoxville Police Department. The nature of the charges indicates a breach of trust in his roles as an educator and mentor to the young individuals he was charged with guiding.
