Brushing up on conversational English just got easier for Spanish speakers in Las Cruces. Starting May 12, the public libraries are offering a seven-week intermediate course dedicated to sharpening English speaking skills, with registration now open for those aiming to enhance their command of the language, the city's website announced.
Classes will take place every Monday from 6-7:15 p.m., except for the Monday that falls on Memorial Day, in the Roadrunner Room at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library located at 200 E. Picacho Ave. Eager learners should note that registration is recommended to secure a spot in this sought-after program. Interested participants can register by calling (575) 528-4005, as per the library details.
The course, under the guidance of instructor Carlos Goebels, is designed not just to foster a better grasp of English but to instill confidence in social and work-related interactions. Those enrolled in the class will tackle group discussions on various topics and deliver short presentations tailored to improve vocabulary, pronunciation, and listening skills. Furthermore, the program presents a supportive environment where those often silenced by language barriers can find their voices, according to the City of Las Cruces.
