A series of palindrome dates recently led to a rise in weddings in Las Vegas. Chapels such as The Little Vegas Chapel and Bliss Wedding Chapel reported more ceremonies than usual. These dates, which read the same forwards and backwards, are more common in the United States because of the month-day-year date format, as mentioned by News3LV.
On Sunday, The Little Vegas Chapel saw a large increase in weddings, with more than three times its usual number of ceremonies. Chief photographer Elmer Turcios said, "It's a very repetitive date, and people love that kind of dates. So we're here having a party and getting people married," as reported by News3LV. Bliss Wedding Chapel also reported an increase in ceremonies. Owner Brandon Reed said it was "It’s kind of a perfect trifecta" of a weekend, Memorial Day, and the palindrome date. According to 8 News Now, the chapel had over 30 scheduled weddings, not including walk-ins.
Erika and Ivan Rivera, a couple from California, got married in Las Vegas on Sunday, the same month as their five-year anniversary. Erika said, “We’ve been together for five years this month, so we decided the date 5/25/25 for our five-year anniversary makes sense. It worked out,” as per 8 News Now. Las Vegas often sees many weddings on dates with repeating numbers.
