In Lauderdale Lakes, a fire erupted last night at the Seawind Lakes Apartments, resulting in the displacement of 38 residents, including children and ailing adults. According to WSVN, Broward Sheriff’s Office Fire Rescue units responded swiftly to the blaze on Northwest 36th Street, which inflicted severe damage on multiple units, though no injuries were reported.
Red Cross representatives promptly arrived on the scene to provide immediate assistance, providing vouchers to cover temporary hotel accommodations to the affected families. "We couldn't come out in the hallway," resident Majorie Johnson recounted in an interview with NBC Miami, "My daughter said there is too much smoke in the hallway, we can’t go. So when I came out, there was smoke billowing from one of those apartments, I wasn’t sure which one it was.”
Firefighters battled a fierce fire that started in a first-floor apartment, forcing the full evacuation of a four-story building. The Florida State Fire Marshal is now investigating the cause, though early signs suggest it was not suspicious. With the flames out and daylight exposing the damage, crews began recovery efforts, boarding up the building early this morning.
