
Edwin Rosario Soto, 34, of Lawrence, has been sentenced to 15 to 18 years in state prison after being convicted of multiple child sexual assault charges. According to the Essex County District Attorney's Office, a jury found Rosario Soto guilty on Thursday last week of five counts of rape of a child by force and one count of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
Judge Lynn C. Rooney issued the sentence in Salem Superior Court. Following his prison term, Rosario Soto will serve five years of probation with several conditions. These include no contact with the victim or witnesses, undergoing sex offender evaluation and treatment, registering with the Sex Offender Registry Board (SORB), no unsupervised contact with children under 16, providing a DNA sample, and complying with any restraining orders.
Assistant District Attorney Maria Markos prosecuted the case, with Amy Snow serving as the victim/witness advocate. Rosario Soto was represented by attorney Jorge Moura.
