A 21-year-old man from Longmont, Colorado, faces serious accusations after being arrested on multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a child. Robert Keith Trujillo was taken into custody on Saturday following a meticulous investigation led by the Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), as confirmed by the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
The allegations against Trujillo include possession and intent to distribute child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The case against him began to build strength after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided tips to local authorities concerned with the distribution of such material. Following the tips, the Boulder County Digital Forensics Lab, affiliated with ICAC, pinpointed Trujillo as a suspect residing in the Boulder County area.
Detectives, supported by the Longmont SWAT team, executed a search warrant at Trujillo's home on the 2300 block of Wedgewood Ave. During the operation, multiple electronic devices suspected of containing CSAM were seized for further examination. The investigation's momentum culminated in the acquisition of an arrest warrant for Trujillo, based on the probable cause unearthed through the examination of the gathered evidence.
Taken into custody, Trujillo now awaits legal proceedings on the following charges: two counts of sexual exploitation of a child with the intent to distribute, considered a Class 3 Extraordinary Risk Felony, four counts of sexual exploitation of a child through possession of videos, a Class 4 Extraordinary Risk Felony, and one count of possessing an image, classified as a Class 5 Extraordinary Risk Felony. The gravity of the situation reflects the severity of these charges that Boulder County Jail is now holding him, where he is being held without bond until seen by a judicial officer.
