Last Friday, Lane Robert Christensen, a 58-year-old man from Longmont, was arrested following an investigation into child sexual exploitation material (CSAM) linked to his possession. According to Boulder County Sheriff's Office, the Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force initiated the probe after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) indicated the presence of CSAM in a cloud service, which led to the discovery that Christensen was in the Boulder County vicinity.
The Boulder County Digital Forensics Lab, an ICAC affiliate, took over the investigation. An ICAC investigator from the lab, acting on the court orders on ESPs, was able to pinpoint Christensen as a suspect. Longmont SWAT and detectives implemented a search warrant at Christensen's residence on Hallmark Lane, and several electronic devices were seized. Following a review of the evidence, they found probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for Christensen for possession of CSAM.
Christensen is now facing charges, specifically one count for the sexual exploitation of a child linked to the possession of an image. This charge is classified as a Class 5 Extraordinary Risk Felony, carrying a $5,000 bond. He was booked into the Boulder County Jail under case number 24-02224. Although these charges are significant, it is essential to remember that in the American legal system, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
