An incident in El Cerrito led to an arrest after a man was found with a stab wound yesterday. El Cerrito Police responded to a battery report at around 11:24 AM in the 10300 block of San Pablo Avenue, according to an alert from the department.
On the scene, a 55-year-old victim was discovered with a stab wound to the abdomen. He was quickly transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and is reportedly in stable condition with expectations to fully recover. The suspect, 41-year-old Devin Gonzales, was swiftly located by patrol units and taken into custody. An in-field show-up was conducted where Gonzales was positively identified as the assailant.
Gonzales, who has been identified as homeless, was booked into the El Cerrito Police Department jail. He was then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility, according to the El Cerrito Police Department. The motivations behind the attack remain unclear, and police have not disclosed whether the victim and attacker were known to each other.
