An unfortunate incident occurred in Southwest Miami-Dade yesterday, where a man was electrocuted and consequently died while trimming trees. The event took place in the vicinity of the 13900 block of Southwest 36th Street, as reported by Local 10 News. Miami-Dade County investigators have been on the scene, attempting to piece together the details of this tragedy.
According to the authorities, the man was presumably engaged in the act of pruning a palm tree when he made an accidental contact with a power line. Not much is known about the victim yet, as his identity has not been made public and it remains unknown whether he lived at the property or was contracted for the tree maintenance task. As stated by CBS News Miami, the man was pronounced dead at an scene itself.
Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) has commented on the broader issue of tree trimming near power lines, underlining that property owners are responsible for ensuring that trees do not encroach on these lines. However, they stressed the importance of hiring professionals for such work.
The area where the accident occurred was cordoned off while investigators worked with an elevated bucket truck observed next to the trees in question. This type of equipment is typically used by tree service professionals during aerial work, suggesting that the man may have been using appropriate tools for the job.
