A man is currently in critical condition following a shooting in the Binghampton area, as the Memphis Police Department continues its investigation into the incident that occurred Saturday evening. Action News 5 reported that officers responded to the scene around 5:12 p.m. at the intersection of Carpenter Street and Hale Avenue. No suspect information has been released at this time.
According to additional details from a FOX13 Memphis report, the man was found with serious injuries and was quickly transported to Regional One for treatment. The police have yet to identify any suspects related to this shooting. Authorities are urging anyone who might possess information to come forward and to contact CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
In a separate but possibly connected string of incidents, the Memphis area has seen a recent spike in carjackings, with four teenagers being arrested this past week. The Memphis Police confirmed the apprehension of the suspects, who are allegedly linked to multiple carjackings in the Raleigh area. WREG News reported that the first incident took place on May 15 at 7:20 p.m. at a Citgo Gas Station located at 2915 Old Austin Peay Highway.
Following the first incident, on the next day, another carjacking was reported involving a Toyota Corolla, which was later seen with the suspects inside at Creekside Meadows Apartments. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver elected not to comply, leading to a high-speed chase and subsequent crash where five males fled the vehicle. After a brief pursuit, authorities managed to apprehend two suspects behind a residence and two more hiding inside a shed. During the apprehension, police found a pill bottle with multi-color pills presumed to be Ecstasy and a firearm in the shed. The four teens are facing multiple charges, including theft of property, evading arrest, and possession of a controlled substance.
