Glendale was the scene of a shooting last night as police responded to gunfire picked up by ShotSpotter technology. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, around 9:32 p.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment complex located near Bethany Home Road and 61st Avenue, where they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Evidencing the incident, ShotSpotter revealed 14 rounds had been fired.
Following their rapid response, struggling to save his life, the victim was found with non-life-threatening injuries. In an interview with Glendale Police Officer Moroni Mendez, FOX 10 Phoenix learned that "officers arrived in the area and quickly found an adult male with a gunshot wound." Locals reportedly informed the police of a suspect chasing the victim before discharging the weapon.
Meanwhile, efforts to locate the shooter have so far been unsuccessful. Police have engaged with several individuals at a residence in the vicinity thought to be connected to the crime as part of their investigation. However, the suspect remains at large, and as of now, further details have yet to surface.
Not far from where the shooting unfolded, Glendale Police was also in the middle of another operation to arrest an assault suspect. Overseeing across town at 43rd and Missouri avenues, the shooting played out. Further details are limited, but in a video captured by Sky12 and published by 12News, multiple police units could be seen canvassing the area of the apartment complex. This story is still unfolding, and additional information will be provided as the situation develops.
