A shooting incident on Detroit Avenue NW left a 43-year-old man wounded on Saturday night. According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene at 1766 Detroit Avenue NW after reports of a person shot at around 10:45PM.
The victim, found with a gunshot wound to his neck, was alert and conscious when law enforcement arrived. After receiving on-scene medical treatment, he was able to communicate with the officers. Seemingly the result of an attempted armed robbery as per preliminary findings, the man was shot while fleeing from the assailants, though detailed in the ongoing investigation these facts are.
While the investigation is still active, the Aggravated Assault Unit is working to elucidate the events that led to this violent act. The identity of the suspects remains unknown at this time, and law enforcement officials have yet to release further details regarding their description or the circumstances of the attempted robbery.
