Authorities are on an active manhunt for 29-year-old Tadarius Milan Hunt, identified as the shooter in a violent incident at the Nashville Rescue Mission, where a staff member was severely injured. The shooting took place on a Sunday afternoon near the mission's entrance at 639 Lafayette Street. According to a report by The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, at approximately 2:30 PM, the 44-year-old victim was approaching the front doors when Hunt, running towards him, opened fire, striking the employee multiple times in the chest and legs.
Earlier that day, Hunt had been barred from the mission's property, a fact that points to a potential motive for the attack. The police have now issued arrest warrants for Hunt, charging him with attempted criminal homicide and the use of a gun in a dangerous felony. Specialized Investigations Division detectives have now joined the Central Precinct officers to thoroughly conduct their search, focusing on the downtown core and known homeless encampments where Hunt might be hiding out.
Descriptions of Hunt have been distributed: a bald man, 5'10" tall, and weighing 180 pounds, his appearance is distinctive, and the Metro police are urging the public to remain vigilant. "Anyone seeing Tadarius Hunt or knowing his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463," the police statement emphasizes, noting the critical nature of public support in locating the suspect.
