The City of Marietta has opened nominations for the community to select their choice for the esteemed position of Grand Marshal for the 2025 Let Freedom Ring Parade. As noted in a recent announcement, the Grand Marshal serves as a significant symbol of the community’s pride and spirit, with the ceremony scheduled to take place on the morning of July 4.
According to the city's official announcement, the ideal Grand Marshal should be someone deeply connected to Marietta — a person who has made a lasting impact through community service, the arts, sports, or other fields. They should represent the spirit of the city and help raise its profile both in Georgia and beyond.
Nominations are based on a few key criteria: nominees should be current or former Marietta residents or have brought honor to the city in some way. They must also be available to take part in the Independence Day parade at 10:00 a.m. And for those considering past nominees, anyone previously nominated but not selected is welcome to be nominated again.
To nominate someone, submit a written statement about the nominee’s story along with their contact information. Nominations should be sent to Maggi Moss at [email protected] or mailed to Marietta City Hall. All submissions must arrive no later than June 13.
