A tragic incident unfolded yesterday morning when a house fire in Marlborough, Massachusetts claimed the life of a man, officials reported. The blaze was first addressed by the Marlborough Fire Department at approximately 4:34 a.m., following multiple emergency calls about a residence ablaze at 11 Hanlon Drive. Upon arrival, firefighters were confronted with a fire venting through the roof of a single-family, split-level home, as disclosed by NBC Boston.
Firefighters were alerted that, the homeowner was still within the fiery confines of the house. They proceeded to locate him unconscious on the bathroom floor. The victim was quickly removed from the home through a bedroom window, but, despite swift transport to medical services, he was unable to be revived. His identity has remained confidential while officials notify next of kin. Following the rescue effort and the collapse of the home's walls, fire crews were ordered to evacuate for safety, as the structure had become too unstable, according to WCVB.
The preliminary investigation has led authorities to believe that the inferno began in the upper living area of the house, though the exact cause is still being rigorously examined to ascertain the specifics.
