Barnett Road undergoes some necessary infrastructure updates. According to the city's official announcement, Barnett Road from Black Oak Drive to Murphy Road will experience some traffic changes while Central Pipeline steps in to replace a sanitary sewer mainline, involving road closures scheduled from Thursday to Saturday. The eastbound lanes will be out of commission, and the westbound traffic will be trimmed down to a single lane under the supervision of traffic control.
These modifications come with the requisite advisory to expect delays during this period. To mitigate the potential for frustration and tardiness, Medford's powers that be are recommending that all those affected hunt down alternate routes and parking solutions. The city's statement, featured on Medford’s website, clearly states the closures are set to take place between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Thursday and Friday, and again between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Sunday, so it's prime time for commuters to plan.
Granted, the full extent of these delays will hang on the whims of our temperamental weather and other unpredictable defiances. Nevertheless, the city is voicing its gratitude in advance for patience and cooperation, as keeping the work zones safe is a priority, especially when temporary inconveniences pave the way for the long-term communal good.
