Two young men from Memphis were arrested following a traffic stop in Mt. Juliet, resulting in a significant seizure of drugs and weapons. The Mt. Juliet Police Department reported that the incident began with a routine traffic stop on I-40 East for a minor headlight violation.
During the stop, which initially appeared to be a straightforward vehicle code infraction, officers found an assortment of illegal items. The car contained methamphetamine, over 500 Adderall pills, marijuana, all intended for resale, as well as THC wax, vape pens, a rifle, a handgun, and 75 rounds of ammunition. A device used for reprogramming vehicles and a vacuum sealer used for packaging drugs were also found, according to a WSMV article. The 20-year-old driver was also driving on a suspended license.
The occupants, a 20-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, encountered further difficulties as the younger suspect provided false names, complicating the verification of his identity. Authorities believe the two could be connected to drug trafficking across the state, with the Mt. Juliet Police Department confirming in a social media post, "it is likely these suspects could be involved in crimes across the state."
A headlight violation on an orange Dodge Dart led to a major discovery overnight, when an officer stopped the vehicle on I-40 East after leaving the Mapco near I-40. What followed revealed a dangerous mix of drugs, weapons, and deception.

The arrests, which police characterized as the result of proactive, alert policing, have led to charges that include drug resale and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony for the 20-year-old, while the 17-year-old faces similar charges, alongside criminal impersonation and possession of a prohibited weapon. The 20-year-old was booked into Wilson County Jail, and the younger suspect was taken to a juvenile detention facility. The story was also covered by WKRN, which detailed the arrest events and the items seized.
According to the Mt. Juliet Police, "This is the kind of proactive, alert policing that helps keep Mt. Juliet safe."
