A grim tableau unfolded in Memphis, where a man was arrested and charged with murder after allegedly shooting another man and dumping his body in a lake. The Memphis Police Department reported that on Wednesday, they responded to a call from the girlfriend of 62-year-old RC Alexander who claimed to have found him in the front yard of their home with gunshot wounds, as per a report by Action News 5.
Upon the officers' arrival with Alexander's girlfriend, who had left to contact authorities, they discovered he was missing. Subsequently, a call led them to a residence on S. Orleans Street, where they detained six individuals and found a vehicle saturated with blood. Among those detained was Jimmy Fulilove, who was later charged in connection with Alexander's death, as reported by Fox 13 Memphis.
Detailed in the arrest affidavit, Fulilove told investigators that after an argument with Alexander, he retrieved his gun and upon returning, shot Alexander three times in the back as he stepped out of the house armed with a knife. Originally, Fulilove claimed he intended to take Alexander to the hospital but instead disposed of his body in McKellar Lake, as cited in a statement obtained by the Memphis Police Department. In a disturbing turn of events, the location turned out to be the resting place of Alexander, whose body was found near Martin Luther King Riverside Park, close to the lake.
The tragic sequence of events culminated in Fullilove being charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse, while the Memphis Police Department continues its investigation into the harrowing crime, according to a WREG report.
