As the Memphis Police Department (MPD) continues its pursuit, the community reels from a recent act of violence at a local McDonald's in Frayser; a man lost his life in a shooting, and authorities are seeking public assistance in capturing those responsible. On the evening of April 22, according to FOX13 Memphis, officers were called to the scene at 3149 Thomas Street at approximately 5:17 p.m., where they discovered 30-year-old Trivez Washington with gunshot wounds behind the front counter. He was pronounced dead on site.
The situation escalated from a fight in the lobby between the victim and a suspect, captured by surveillance footage, described as wearing a light colored shirt and blue jeans, as noted in a report from Action News 5. Further observations revealed an additional individual in a black shirt with a gray beard who seemed alerted by the disruption and drew a gun leading to Washington’s tragic end; both suspected shooter and the man in the black shirt fled together, vanishing westward from the camera’s sight, WREG News included images of both suspects and a vehicle of interest, further bolstering MPD's efforts towards capturing those involved.
The stream of details from the investigation has been steadily shared with the public, as MPD has released not only the footage but also still photos that highlight a handgun in the possession of a suspect.
Authorities have yet to make any arrests, prompting them to reach out for community support to track down the individuals; anyone with information is encouraged to make a critical call to CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
