Miami's Vice City Golf Carts has become the center of a legal scandal. The shop's former owner, Miguel Gomez, has found himself facing multiple charges of grand theft and fraud after accusations surfaced that he had been running a long con on unsuspecting customers. NBC Miami reported that Gomez, 43, allegedly stole and then sold golf carts trusted to him for service or upgrades.

Reports suggest that six separate cases have built up against Gomez. The accusations range from grand theft to organized schemes to defraud, with at least one case involving theft from an elderly. NBC Miami detailed incidents where customers were given various excuses for why their carts were not returned on time, some of which were ultimately discovered being sold at other businesses or dismantled in Gomez's possession.

One particularly egregious case involved a customer paying a $1,900 repair estimate only for weeks to go by without sight of their golf cart valued at $7,000. Eventually, the business was closed with no communication from Gomez. As reported by WFLA News, another victim discovered their missing $8,000 golf cart for sale, which Gomez had allegedly accepted to settle a separate business debt.

During a recent bond court appearance on the new charges, Gomez's bond was set at $7,500. However, he remains in custody because of an immigration hold, a detail obtained from WFLA News. Further complicating Gomez's legal troubles is a case involving a customer who paid $15,500 for a boat which Gomez failed to deliver, offering stolen golf carts as repayment instead.
