A tragic turn of events at Northshore Medical Center in Miami has led to charges against a nurse, who allegedly removed the intubation tube from her terminally ill mother, according to authorities. Juansette Sabrina Green, 54, faces a charge of aggravated manslaughter after her actions allegedly led to her mother's death, as reported by NBC Miami.
Green's mother was admitted to the hospital on May 5, experiencing shortness of breath, and as her condition worsened, she required intubation in the ICU. Her deteriorating health left doctors with few options, and she was placed on assisted breathing to stay alive. Green, who is not employed by Northshore Medical Center, contacted her children last Friday, instructing them to visit their grandmother because she was "not doing well," this detail was shared by WFLA. In the privacy of the ICU room, Green reportedly stated, "I'm pulling out," and proceeded to remove her mother’s breathing apparatus.
The act prompted an immediate alarm, prompting ICU staff to rush in in attempts at resuscitation. However, Green implored the medical team to cease their efforts, declaring she "wanted her mother to go in peace," a scene described in arrest reports. Shortly after, her mother was pronounced dead, as authorities were called to the scene, Mrs. Green had already left the hospital grounds. She was later apprehended at her home and detained by police, as detailed by WFLA.
During a subsequent court hearing, a judge deemed the circumstances grave enough to hold Green without bond. With over 20 years in the medical field as a nurse practitioner, Green's professional background added a layer of complexity to a situation that remains under careful investigation by both law enforcement and Northshore Medical Center officials, who have expressed their cooperation with the ongoing probe.
