A tragic accident in Milton, Massachusetts, has resulted in the death of Father James B. Doran, 68, after an SUV struck his bicycle. According to WCVB, the incident occurred Wednesday last week on Blue Hill Avenue and was confirmed fatal yesterday by Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey.

The crash happened near the Blue Hills Trailside Museum and involved an 85-year-old driver from Hyde Park. He was not injured. Video from the scene showed Father Doran’s bicycle and helmet in the middle of the street.

WHDH reported that Father Doran was a member of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary at the St. Joseph Retreat House in Milton. The congregation stated, "We are saddened to share that Fr. James Doran, OMV, a cherished member of our community, was tragically killed in a bicycle accident earlier this week. Fr. Jim lived a life of humble service, prayer, and devotion to Christ, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. We ask for your prayers for the repose of his soul, for his family, and for our Oblate community."

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Milton Police, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police, and the Norfolk District Attorney's Office. Father Doran died at a Boston hospital after being transported from the scene.
