The Minneapolis Police Department's swift response to a reported firearm incident led to a high-stakes chase and an arrest at the corner of 22nd Street and Pillsbury Avenue. After a suspect was reported for brandishing a gun, 5th Precinct officers were quick on the scene. They identified a man who matched the description and attempted to approach him, leading the suspect to flee, although not swiftly enough to evade the officers, as detailed in a social media post by the Minneapolis Police Department.
Upon taking the man into custody, the officers discovered two guns in his possession, the search revealing one to be stolen and accompanied by what's suspected to be narcotics. According to the police department's statement, the suspect, wanted for a parole violation, had previous felony convictions and was barred from firearm possession.
The situation took a turn when the suspect started exhibiting drug overdose symptoms post-arrest. The officers responded promptly, ensuring that the suspect received medical evaluation at a hospital before his relocation to the Hennepin County Jail.
