Minnesota State Patrol Trooper Jeremy Plonski is now facing state charges in Scott County District Court for first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under 14 years old. This string of charges is the outcome of a concerted investigative effort by the FBI, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), and the Shakopee Police Department, according to a press release from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

"The alleged sexual abuse this child had inflicted upon them is truly unbelievable," Scott County Attorney Ron Hocevar said. "This office will pursue all potential charges and maximum penalties available to us to hold this individual accountable." Commending the agencies involved, Hocevar expressed his gratitude for their role in bringing Plonski to justice and emphasizing protection for community children.

The state's reaction mirrors the tone set by federal authorities, with the BCA Superintendent Drew Evans providing a stern response to the accusations. "The crimes alleged are horrifying," Evans said. "This child endured unimaginable sexual abuse. We will continue our dogged pursuit of any criminal who preys on our children — our most vulnerable residents."

While the case proceeds, Plonski remains in federal custody at the Sherburne County Jail.
