The City of Miramar recently celebrated its 70th anniversary, engaging residents in a day-long festivity commemorating the city's rich history and community spirit. The morning kicked off with a motorcade starting from Miramar Regional Park and trailing along Miramar Parkway, leading to Shirley Branca Park, according to details shared in a Facebook post by the City of Miramar. Attendees were able to get free Miramar flags at several locations, including Miramar Town Center, Sunset Lakes Community Center, and Ansin Sports Complex, to showcase their civic pride.
The celebration, which overlapped with Memorial Day observations, was designed to both honor the past and toast to the city’s future. "We’re so excited to be here to celebrate our chartering 70 years ago, where our city’s founders started Miramar. We’re now Florida’s 13th largest city, a major player in South Florida with some amazing residents and families and businesses and we’re just looking forward to celebrating with many generations of Miramarians here in the City of Miramar," Mayor Wayne Messam enthusiastically explained in a statement obtained by WSVN.
Following the motorcade, Shirley Branca Park played host to an afternoon brimming with a variety of entertainments. Live music performances, cultural showcases, and interactive games were part of the lineup, calling together families from all over the city to engage in the collective revelry.
