A tragic incident unfolded in Yarmouth, Massachusetts, when a 28-year-old motorcyclist was fatally injured in a collision with a pickup truck. According to reports by NBC Boston, the accident occurred yesterday afternoon at the intersection of Station Avenue and Wood Road. Yarmouth police, responding to the crash at about 4 p.m., initially believed it involved only the motorcyclist hitting a mailbox.
Upon arrival, police officers observed the motorcyclist, later identified as Keean Laakso of South Yarmouth, with life-threatening injuries on the ground. Despite subsequent reports indicating a single-vehicle crash, a pickup truck was also found to have been involved, with its driver remaining on scene. While offering lifesaving measures, members of the Yarmouth Fire Department were at a loss to save Keean Laakso, who succumbed to his injuries and died on the site.
The preliminary inquiry into the accident, as reported by WCVB, suggests that the pickup was in the process of crossing the intersection when Laakso, traveling south on Station Avenue at a high rate of speed, collided with the truck. Following this initial impact, Laakso's motorcycle went on to strike a granite mailbox post.
At this moment, the Yarmouth Police alongside the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Unit are conducting a detailed investigation into this fatal occurrence. No charges have been filed, and police are urging witnesses, or anyone with relevant information concerning the crash, to come forward. They can contact Yarmouth police at 508-775-0445.
