According to the WSMV, the crash transpired while the crosswalk's warning beacons were activated and flashing. The mother and infant were transported to the hospital with injuries described as minor and non-life-threatening.
The driver involved in the incident initially fled the scene, prompting an immediate police search. "Moments ago, officers quickly located a hit-and-run suspect after a pedestrian-involved crash at the entrance of the Deerfield Apartments near Providence Parkway," the Mt. Juliet Police documented on social media. As a reaction to the incident, the suspect, a 57-year-old man from Mt. Juliet, was arrested and is being processed at the Wilson County Jail.

According to WKRN, the collision occurred at the entrance of the Deerfield Apartments on Providence Parkway. The driver's arrest was expedited by the swift action of law enforcement and the alert bystander who provided the authorities with detailed information about the vehicle involved.
