Walter Rivera Morel, a 44-year-old man, has been arrested and held on a $752,000 bond after a series of violent incidents. Nashville Police Department reports that he was apprehended on North Natchez Court Thursday following a trespassing incident on South Nashville property.
After initially providing a fake name during his arrest for criminal trespassing, it was discovered that Morel was wanted on ten outstanding warrants. These include charges for aggravated arson, an attempted homicide, and multiple counts of aggravated assault. According to the Nashville Police Department, Morel had previously been identified in connection with a December incident where a duplex on Rio Vista Drive was set ablaze. Morel, alongside another suspect, allegedly poured fuel on the property's front door with a woman and her three children inside, and fired shots at a witness who confronted them.
Furthermore, Morel is accused of attacking a man with a wooden 2x4 during an April 21 dispute over a vape on Murfreesboro Pike. The victim, attempting to escape the altercation, was shot in the process. In a recent interview with detectives, Morel confessed to his involvement in the December arson. This admission adds gravity to the charges he now faces, which tallies up to five counts of aggravated assault, four counts of aggravated arson, and one count of attempted homicide, alongside criminal impersonation and criminal trespassing.
