The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office reported a significant drug bust that led to the arrests of two individuals in Nevada City. According to a social media post from the Nevada County Sheriff's Office, deputies and detectives conducted a pretrial release search on April 30, 2025, at a property associated with 21-year-old Haley Greenhaw, located on the 700 block of Zion Street. Greenhaw was already known to law enforcement, having been arrested for drug-related offenses with the most recent incident occurring less than a week prior, on April 24.

During the search, Greenhaw was present along with Devon Cole Porteous, a 34-year-old from Auburn. Authorities discovered a significant quantity of narcotics, paraphernalia, a switchblade knife, and multiple credit and debit cards that did not belong to either suspect present. Additionally, a loaded firearm and ammunition were found in Porteous’ vehicle, suggesting possible involvement in drug-dealing activities. Both Greenhaw and Porteous were taken into custody, facing several charges each. The Nevada County Sheriff's Office stated that this investigation is still ongoing.

As part of her pretrial release conditions, Greenhaw was prohibited from possessing or consuming controlled substances and was subject to search and seizure at any time. The recent search substantiated her noncompliance, resulting in additional charges including possession with intent to sell a controlled substance and contempt of court, among others. Porteous, likewise, faces several serious charges, such as possession of a controlled substance while armed and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
