
Members of the Nevada County community are taking action to address domestic and interpersonal violence. A group of eight local leaders and workers attended the 25th Annual International Family Justice Center Conference. The event focused on domestic violence, child and elder abuse, and sexual assault, as reported by the Nevada County District Attorney's Office.
The International Alliance for Hope hosted a conference focused on supporting survivors. Representatives from the Nevada County District Attorney’s Office, law enforcement, and social service agencies shared ideas and strategies to address these issues, as stated by the Nevada County District Attorney's Office.
According to the Nevada County District Attorney's Office on their Facebook page, representatives from various organizations, including the Nevada City Police Department, Nevada County Sheriff's Department, Western Sierra Medical Clinic, Nevada County Social Services, and Community Beyond Violence, attended a conference to enhance their approaches to victim care. The focus was on trauma-informed and hope-centered strategies. The Nevada County District Attorney’s Office shared, "Our team had the opportunity to engage with professionals across these fields, learning trauma-informed, hope-centered approaches that will help us continue our work in minimizing trauma, promoting prevention, and providing the best possible care for victims."
