After 15 years in operation, Tracey's Original Irish Channel Bar on Magazine Street will close at the end of May. According to a report by WDSU, owner Jeffrey Carreras announced the decision, citing a series of challenges including weather-related parade cancellations and permitting issues that impacted the business's ability to recover financially.

As reported by NOLA.com, Carreras described the cancellation of this year's St. Patrick’s Day parade as "the final blow." The parade had traditionally brought in significant revenue for the bar, which recently relocated and was already facing financial strain heading into the slower summer season.

Tracey’s, known for its po-boys and large parade-day crowds, was opened by Carreras after he previously ran the former Parasol’s Restaurant & Bar nearby. He moved the bar to a new location last year in an attempt to keep the business viable, as noted by WWLTV. Although the bar will close, Carreras announced that Irish Channel Select Crawfish will continue to hold pop-up events at the location through the end of May.
