Orlando's culinary scene welcomes another sophisticated member to its fold with the opening of Sparrow, a Southern European-inspired wine bar by the Good Salt Restaurant Group, headed by James Beard Award finalists Jason and Sue Chin. Nestled in the North Quarter at 807 N. Orange Avenue, Sparrow has been unveiled on the heels of a much-anticipated soft opening earlier this week, as reported by Orlando Weekly.
The establishment sits tantalizingly close to its sister space, Reyes Mezcaleria, just 100 feet away, and is introducing an air of Southern European culture to the area. According to Bungalower, the menu is the brainchild of Executive Chef Wendy Lopez, whose Spanish heritage and culinary influences from countries such as France, Portugal, and Italy are reflected in the selection of small plates and shareables.
Revelers can indulge in a myriad of culinary delights from tuna and salmon crudo to short rib ragù, alongside delectable desserts like almond sponge cake with coffee liqueur and chocolate mousse. Sparrow also shakes things up with its cocktail offerings, under the direction of Good Salt's beverage director, Lorena Castro, who serves up curated wines and classic cocktails within the 1,978-square-foot space designed by Sue Chin, featuring a distinct and intimate ambiance.
The wine bar enhances its appeal with unique programs, such as an afternoon tea party and a late-night menu featuring options ranging from tinned fish pasta to the "Girl Dinner," which pairs a chicken schnitzel with a Little Gem Caesar salad. According to Orlando Weekly, the nocturnal spread is available well into the evening from 9 to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and stretching until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
