Jefferson City motorists are advised of upcoming nighttime traffic changes. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced a new schedule for Route C (Ellis Boulevard) bridge maintenance, which was previously delayed due to adverse weather. For those using the overpass across U.S. Route 54, closures will begin nightly at 8 p.m. starting June 1, with the bridge reopening at 5 a.m. each morning. This schedule will continue through the morning of June 5, according to MoDOT.
During the scheduled nighttime work, MoDOT advises motorists to follow all safety guidelines while crews are present. Drivers are reminded to wear seat belts, avoid mobile device use, adhere to posted traffic instructions, reduce speed, and maintain safe distances in work zones. These measures support the ongoing efforts to improve bridge infrastructure and enhance long-term safety and traffic flow.
Residents and visitors in the area are advised to plan ahead for the evening closures by considering alternative routes or adjusting travel times to avoid the shutdown periods. For updates on the project and any schedule changes, travelers should monitor MoDOT’s official notices or sign up for alerts, which serve as the primary sources for information regarding the bridge maintenance.
